The Band Shell will get the full dressing of a professional main stage this year with stage extensions, a small roof, and the whole works. It will be loaded with all the sweet sound equipment we've always had too. We just wanted to make better use of a perfectly cool stage that's already in the park. The Riverfront stage will be a smaller setup, but actually be placed about a 1/3 of the way through the park from the Bandshell, right along the Riverfront. This means that the view of this stage will actually have the River, RI, & the Bridge in the backdrop, which will look super cool. Also, this serves as a way to free up the other end of the park for the Jr Jam Area, while also making it easier for fans to stay in one general location, yet see both stages and all of the music. These 3 men comprise a unique super-group of funk legends that we're VERY excited to bring to the Quad-Cities! Trust us, if you've heard any funk, you've probably heard either of their work sampled or covered in dozens of songs. The Headhunters are a jazz-funk fusion band best known tunes like "Chameleon" and their albums they recorded as a backing band of keyboard player Herbie Hancock during the 1970s. Hancock's debut album with the group, Head Hunters, is one of the best-selling jazz/fusion records of all time. Leo Nocentelli is the guitar player of The Original Meters, who are often considered by many to be the founding fathers of funk music. Their trademark sound blends funk, blues, and dance grooves with a New Orleans vibe. They have toured with such talents as The Rolling Stones, and have been a studio band for such diverse artists as Dr. John, Paul McCartney, Robert Palmer, and Patti Labelle.
